Compounded medications are not FDA approved

Compounded medications are not FDA approved. FDA does not verify their safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed. A compounded medication is not an FDA-approved generic and should not be assumed equivalent to, interchangeable with, or the same as an FDA-approved product.

Compounding may be appropriate when a licensed provider determines that a patient's medical needs cannot be met by an available FDA-approved product or in another circumstance permitted by law. The provider and pharmacy are responsible for determining whether a compounded prescription is lawful and appropriate for the individual patient.

GLP-1 medications

Semaglutide and tirzepatide are active ingredients found in FDA-approved prescription products for particular indications. A compounded product containing one of these ingredients is not itself FDA approved. Brand names are referenced only for education; Pretty Girls Peptide is not affiliated with or endorsed by the manufacturers of Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, Zepbound®, or other branded products.

Compounded oral tirzepatide

There is no FDA-approved oral tirzepatide product. Compounded oral tirzepatide has not been reviewed by FDA for safety, effectiveness, quality, absorption, or bioavailability and should not be presented as equivalent to an FDA-approved injectable tirzepatide product.

Other compounded treatments

The regulatory and scientific status of NAD+, sermorelin, MIC with vitamin B12, GHK-Cu, and other compounded preparations may vary by ingredient, route, formulation, pharmacy type, and current law. Website availability does not mean a treatment is appropriate or legally available in every jurisdiction. A provider and dispensing pharmacy must confirm eligibility, availability, and applicable requirements before treatment.

Prescription and provider review
